Our Story
In late 2025, my youngest son was struggling.
He has severe ADHD and low self-esteem, and he needed more one-on-one support than he was getting. As I started looking more closely at social-emotional learning content, I also started paying attention to what was available for families teaching at home.
A lot of what I found was designed for classrooms of 25, not a family of four.
Some resources were too worksheet-heavy. Some required school accounts and technology that did not make sense at home. Some were so loosely structured that parents had to build the curriculum themselves. And most treated character education like an afterthought—something that happens naturally instead of something you teach intentionally.
My background is in application development, so I naturally started thinking about the problem from a builder's point of view.
What would character education look like if it was built for families, not just schools?
What if the parent did not need a teaching degree to lead the lesson?
What if it connected stories, conversation, music, and hands-on activities into something a family could do together in 10–15 minutes?
That became Be The Buffalo.
It is a K–5 character education and social-emotional learning platform built for parent-led lessons. Parents can pull up a story, song, discussion prompt, activity, or printable and use it right away with their children—no prep, no training, no complicated setup.
The technology is there to support the family conversation, not take it over.
